WAFU Cup: Okpotu, Moses fire Nigeria into semi-final

Nigeria’s Super Eagles team B yesterday beat their Ghanaian counterparts 2-0 to reach the semi-final of the West Africa Football Union Cup of Nations ongoing in Cape Coast, Ghana.

Anthony Okpotu and Peter Eneji Moses, who emerged Man of the Match, scored for the Super Eagles after the break in the match the Salisu Yusuf coached side needed to win to remain in the tournament. With the win Nigeria placed second behind Ghana in the group A standing.

The Super Eagles will meet the winner in group B. Niger Republic top the group with four points, while Senegal is on three points. Niger will play against Benin Republic while Senegal take on bottom placed Cote d’ Ivoire.

Meanwhile, Guinea and Mali both exited the 2017 WAFU Cup of Nations after playing to a 1-1 draw in their final group stage match at Nduom Sports Stadium in Elmina on Monday evening.
